Week 26

Hello all!!! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones!!! I had an awesome one because I got to face-time with my family!! It was the best 🙂  I love them so much. Even Chris was there!!! Best Christmas gift ever!!! Plus, I got to see my cousins and Aunt and Uncle which was so awesome. I was feelin’ the love.  We went to the Mitchells for Christmas dinner which was great! They were skyping with their son who is serving in California…it was kind of funny to see the other side of it where the parents and siblings were skyping, ya know?! But it was great to be with them and the two other set of elders were there too. After that, all six of us missionaries decided to carol the rest of the night! We went to the middle of Utica at a round a bout and sang some of the Christmas hymns.  We had a few people slow down and just give us a stare, some that rolled their windows down and said, “Merry Christmas!” with bright happy faces, and then a few rambunctious teenagers, that were on something, come and spray yellow Gatorade at the elders pants and yell jibberish at us. It was something. But! It was a great Christmas and we had some cool harmonies going on.  🙂

So yeah, no white stuff came from the sky on Christmas! Still had some nice green grass and a sunny, blue day. I think Sister Baylor took some of the San Diego weather with her, it was almost 70 degrees on Christmas Eve! And then Christmas it was 60. Crazy..this winter has been very unusual, but that white stuff is predicted to come this week….aaaah.  I hope I’m ready for it!! Oh! My 6 month mark of being on a mission happened on Christmas Eve! So crazy…time is flyin.
We’ve had a pretty good week!  The people we see and teach are doing good…it was sad though, Christmas Eve we went to see one of our investigators to drop off a gift, and when he opened the door,  he had tears in his eyes and seemed so sad. We asked if there was anything we could do for him and he was quiet…it was seriously so sad. He’s had a pretty rough life, nut had always been so kind and generous to those around him. Christmas can be a hard time of year…I think he was expecting to have his three little grandkids over, but it must have fallen through. We saw him yesterday though and he seemed a lot better..and his grandkids were there! We saw Flavia and she’s awesome. She gives us delicious treats and you can just feel her love all the time! She’s basically our grandma…we shared the “Joy to the World” video with her last week and then saw her last night. Her two grandkids and daughter were there and we shared this great scripture:

Or what man is there of you, who, if his son ask bread, will give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” (3 Nephi 13 9-12; Matthew 7:9-12)

I love this. We can all relate to how we feel to someone we love, especially the love a parent has for their children where they want to give them the best and wants them to be happy. And that’s exactly how our Father in Heaven is.  All we need to do is ask Him and do the things He’s asked us to do, and He will give us gifts that are beyond earthly treasures.

We had such a crazy awesome lesson with our investigator, Alieanna. One of the members of our ward, Sister Gamboa, came with us.  She bore a very powerful testimony to Alieanna and spoke of her conversion. Alieanna said she never felt such powerful feelings in her heart and she felt so overwhelmed with happiness. She truly felt the Spirit testify to her. After, she texted us saying thank you for the awesome lesson and that she was super excited for her baptism coming up. She is so amazing and has such a pure heart. We love her.

Sister Baylon is amazing. I’m so grateful for the example she is to me! She is so in tune with the spirit and has such an amazing testimony of Christ. It’s awesome.  We are going to make some sweet New Years resolutions together, one to get some meaningful exercise in the morning and de-junk the food we eat…which means we have to eat all our Christmas treats before Friday, haha 😉 I love the mission, I love my family, I love this Gospel, I love Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ. And I love you all!!! Have a Happy New Year! 2016, it’s gonna be good! 🙂

Love, Sister Pange

“As we seek Christ, as we find Him, as we follow Him, we shall have the Christmas spirit, not one fleeting day each year, but as a companion always.” -President Thomas S. Monson
