Had a pretty good week full of mixed emotions n’stuff, so nothing new! 😉 But we have been blessed as always!!!
First off, we had a great rest of our 4th…went to President Finnegan’s home and had a delicious BBQ and heard some great missionary stories from the members! We also heard grandma Finnegan’s conversion story when she lived in Scotland, so cool!! I love the people in this branch.
We unfortunately won’t be meeting with Brendan for the time being…he is still on a spiritual search and is going to check out some other things…but we have faith he’ll come back around because he had such an amazing experience at church. All in the Lord’s timing!
Our investigator Judy is doing great!! She couldn’t make it to church last Sunday, but she is planning to come this Sunday…she is so sweet and she offers juice, coke, and water like 4 times during our lessons, it’s great. The Cooper family is awesome!! We saw them Saturday night and at the beginning, everyone was totally distracted, but the Spirit helped us out as we asked inspired questions…we talked about the Plan of Salvation and temples…they loved it. And Roy (the dad) and Shauna (the daughter) came to church yesterday!!! They really enjoyed it and we’ll talk to them more about it later tonight 🙂 The Hartford, Connecticut temple will have an open house this fall before it’s dedicated, so we’ve been telling people about that! Such a great opportunity to see what the insides of our temples look like and to feel the Spirit so strong. And missionaries on the east side of the mission will be able to go to that temple!! SO cool! I don’t know if I’ll still be around this area, but that would be the coolest to go!
We went to this one person’s home who saw us earlier in the day at the food cupboard and said his wife wanted to meet us! (They met with sisters before). When we went over there in the evening, he was there, but his wife wasn’t…but he told us to go meet his daughter visiting! She was out by the road with her 4 kids, so we walked up to her and met her! She is so sweet and her name is Katelyn…we talked with her for a bit and then all the sudden, the lady that lived at a nearby house started yelling out to her saying her kids couldn’t drive out on the road and dropped a few f-bombs all in front of them…it was ridiculous. Katelyn kept her cool through it all though…afterwards, she shed a few tears and we told her how impressed we were with her and how good of a mom she is…it was very humbling to see how Christlike she was through that whole confrontation….sometimes people can be so mean and cruel, but when we resist the urge to snap back and be angry, we win in the end and the Lord blesses us with more humility and love. She invited us to come in to talk more (partly because a storm was a-brewin’ and it got super windy and rainy all the sudden), so score! She talked about how God has been a part of her life and how much it’s blessed her family through it all…we’re planning to see her again today before she heads back to Pennsylvania. She is awesome and her kids are so adorable!!
Last night, we saw Roxanne and Paul (some members in the branch) and Paul was mentioning how one of his co-workers wanted to learn more about the church! And he was also talking about his friend Ron…and lo and behold, his friend Ron pulled up on the driveway!! It was crazy!! So he came on in and we talked about the BOM and about Christ. He didn’t seem to interested at the time, but we invited him to read the Restoration pamphlet and to pray. So that was cool!
Love this little town and all the people we meet! We’re going to be kept busy this week and we’re actually going to Utica for Return and Report with all the other trainers/trainees!! Wahoo!
“I have come to know that it is the love of God and neighbor that gives meaning to life. May we follow our Savior’s example and His admonition to reach out to others with love.
I testify to the reality of President Henry B. Eyring’s promise “that if [we’ll] use [our] gifts to serve someone else, [we’ll] feel the Lord’s love for that person. [We’ll] also feel his love for [us].”
Love you all!!! Reach out and serve others and you will be happy ❤
Love, Sister Pange
I look like a goon, but here’s a piece of the habitat house we are working on in the background!!
